Vacancy: Liaison and Diversion Peer Support Worker (x 3 roles – Wakefield, Kirklees and Calderdale)

SALARY:
NJC Scale Points 7-11, starting at £19,554 pa/pro-rata

HOURS: 
37 hours per week (job share will be considered)

LOCATION:
Wakefield, Kirklees and Calderdale

This role is fixed term for up to 12 months

You will complement the work of the Wakefield Liaison and Diversion service, by providing practical and emotional support to service users who have come into contact with the criminal justice system, with support needs around mental health, learning disability and/or substance use. You will work with a caseload of service users, in the community and at court, recording all interactions with service users in line with procedure and liaising with Project Workers around their support.

You will need to have lived experience of offending and one of the vulnerabilities listed above, and accessed support services. You will have experience of giving and/or receiving peer support and will be able to demonstrate how you manage your recovery and what you are currently doing to support yourself into employment. The successful candidates will need to have strong communication skills and the ability to positively engage with a wide range of service users, colleagues, and other professionals.

These are developmental positions and successful candidates must be willing to take part in a full induction programme and ongoing training. Peer Support workers will receive a robust package of support and supervision to enable them to manage their workload and promote their wellbeing.
